Tutor Requirements
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have the right to work in the UK
Be reliable, engaging, and nurturing in your teaching approach
Hold an Enhanced DBS check (dated within the last 12 months or registered on the Update Service)
Have at least two years of teaching experience
Have a minimum of two hours’ weekly availability after school or at weekends
Have a strong Wi-Fi connection and reliable teaching equipment (for online tutors)
How it Works
1️⃣ Apply — Send your CV and a short video introducing yourself, your qualifications, and your teaching experience.
2️⃣ Interview — If you meet our criteria, you’ll be invited to an interview where you’ll talk us through a short sample lesson.
3️⃣ Checks — If successful, we’ll carry out ID, reference, and DBS checks.
4️⃣ Start Tutoring — Once documentation is complete, we’ll begin matching you with students who suit your experience and availability.

No — all tutors work on a self-employed basis and are responsible for managing their own tax and registering as self-employed.

Tutors set their own hourly rates. Sarah Bridge Tutoring adds a small commission on top, which the client pays.

Tutors submit an invoice at the end of each month, and payments are made via bank transfer.

Yes. It must be dated within the last 12 months or registered on the Update Service. We can assist with DBS applications, but the cost must be covered by the tutor.

You’ll need a PC or laptop, a reliable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone.

You can choose your preferred online teaching platform (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.).

Absolutely! We just ask for a minimum of four weeks’ notice so that we can inform students in advance.

All lesson feedback is uploaded via TutorBird, our secure online portal. Tutors can also communicate through a designated WhatsApp group set up for each class.

Tutors and students are expected to provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. One cancellation is permitted per half term.

Yes. At this time, all tutors must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Yes, lessons are paid for in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are chargeable.
